Arizona Quail Hunting Log October 2003 - December 2003 We did not do a lot of hunting this season. It was a hot dry year and not many productive hunts were had. I had sold Pilot and Scout and only had two new dogs that were pups this year. Rocco and Pistol. Rocco was originally supposed to be part of our breeding program, but due to her extremely small size we sold her. She could find game, but with her short legs and desire to run...she ran out of gas fast. Pistol was a good dog this year, but with few opportunities she really didn't come alive this year.

Gambles Quail - San Carlos Indian Reservation -2003 We made a few trips to the Rez this year. I'm not quite sure when the first picture was taken in the season or even what was going on, but it's a good scenery picture with my back side in it. On one trip (2nd picture) we ran into a huge covey of well over 100 birds found by Hank. We cased them all around the canyon they flew in for some time but that was really all the action we saw that day. It was a blast. The 2nd picture above is of us walking back. ∞
Pistol - Gambles Quail - McDowell Mountain Park - 2003 Wish I could take credit for all the birds but a few are mine. I'm not quite sure who else (but I think there were 4 or 5 of us) went for a morning hunt in the McDowell Mountain Park. We had a great time and came home with some birds. go back to Hunt Log or go to January-February 2004 |
